49 days to go

Well last lap coming up now :-) 49 days to go ......

We’re trying to get all our stuff done - all those last minute parts. Wedding Invites went out this week, makes very good bathroom reading ;-) Should be an interesting reaction from my folks when they see the 80’s themed RSVP statement .. By the power of Grayskull we will be there… that means yes they are coming

Makes a good RSVP for us anyway...

We got some colouring books and stuff for kids at the table so they wont be too bored. Also some red chewy vines to keep wee mouths busy during the service and speeches.

I’m off to try a fake tan and see do I look oompa loompa :-) Having a milky white skin is great - except for when you look like a vampire in need of a top up.

Sent off boxes to home, everyone cross your fingers here that US mail service doesnt feck that one up and my sister gets all the parcels we sent.

Latest thing is we’re trying to get songs that our lad and lass can sing, another lad can play on guitar and the priest gives thumbs up to - its like American Idol -not short of doing a text and vote for the songs you’re allowed to use in a church. They cant say no to you or just heres a good list use all holy songs, as music is alive and can celebrate the churchs view on marraige even with modern day songs.

As long as I can play my last song, thats all I care about. The rest I dont mind if we sing cumbeya for all of them ;-) Really looking forward to New Zealand. Now that should be fantastic. Yeah !!

49 days from now I will be Mrs Borg. A nerdy girls dream ;-) Not only marrying him for his name ladies - theres also the fact that with him I am finally myself and together more.

To partnership, joy and journey

drinking rules

We had a good time with work yesterday. We met at a restaurant Trader Vics had some appetizers and rum drinks to celebrate our sales from last year. All seemed like a good idea but my nursing hangover has taught me a few things.

Things I learnt yesterday

1. I need to have a dinner, food, a good lining on my stomach before I drink. This is my plan for my hen night here and home in Ireland.
2. Small appetizers don’t count - especially when its calamari…
3. A small keg of rum IS really meant for 4 folks, not just one Irish woman with a mate Dev who’s driving and so isn’t really drinking

The Keg of Rum

4. After you quaff down the small ceramic keg of rum its NOT a good idea to get another one…
5. When I’m drunk I think drinking more is a good idea and its not, I am not really thinking and should stop trying to attempt it while drinking cocktails..
6. Sleeping sitting up on my sofa is a proven way not to get sick but will leave you with a sore neck that you only have also got from wrestling a 8 ft gorilla
7. Water and pills do work to make you feel better, but only when you don’t throw them up
8. A keg or even two - even if very cute in ceramic filled with Rum and Juices is not a good idea. This is a repeat one but I feel it must be stressed
9. I will stuff myself before going anywhere for any drink. I may even eat a table or two just to make sure I have enough solid lining in my tummy
10. Rum in kegs should be outlawed. Anything you need a 3 ft straw for should have a friggin license !

countdown

My family reminded me... only 8 weeks to go now till we get married. Wow that was quick.

We thought we had most of it done. Turns out theres lots of little bits to do. Like favors, invites, service, all those wee things ;-)

I laugh at the ‘we’ doing part as my family in Ireland (Yeah !!) have been doing the most of the running around to date. My Mum is on the hunt for a mobile hairdresser in Glendalough that can come to the hotel. Me I think I’ll actually want to get out that day for some fresh air. We even got wedding umbrellas just in case.

Looks like about 130 folks coming give or take 10 - sure theres some that cant make it but REALLY REALLY looking forward to having all our friends and family together. Looks like being a fantastic week

We made a to do list, and one of them is we’re getting our wedding rings engraved. We were thinking of YAA - you are assimilated from our reference to Borgs (Star Trek Next Generation for those who arent sci fi minded) but decided on something more romantic ;-)

We both went on the countdown diet - I’ve pretty much changed my eating habits over last year and even though we went to his Mums in Florida where she cooks the best mashed potatoes in the world ! She was great though and had lots of fresh veggies and salad so I couldnt overdo the complex carbs. I did ok considering its Christmas and thats about the only time of year I eat chocolate - put one some pounds but we hit south beach diet when we got back and started last week on Saturday.

Things to note re south beach

1. You will get a headache first few days as your body goes - wheres the SUGAR !!! GIVE ME the F***DAMN SUGAR !! -
2. This is not the day to do the service booklet and try and discuss readings and who’s doing what… likely to kill each other lol. We survived which we thought bodes well for us and marraige lol
3. The frozen meals seem like a great idea first week and half way through you want to throw them out the window
4. breakfast quiches rock ! And best of all most of it is leftovers so taste different every time
5. If you stick with it really works - I’m down 4 pounds and J 6 pounds in 6 days which is very cool.

Educating J on looking at labels when we went food shopping - never amazes me that fat free can be worse than just regular - they pile the sugar in

Jans off it tomorrow as its .. .drum roll…. American Stag Night. 14 boys including Jan off to San Francisco to eat, drink and use a lot of dollar bills. Its great his mates are coming in tonight and tomorrow.

Me - I’ll be meeting a girlfriend for dinner and then hanging out with new man in my life -well Ciaras new man - hes a month old and very damn cute. I’ll break south beach to drink wine saturday night ;-)

Decided to do Irish Hen Night March 3rd as with Jans March 4th would like the friends, sisters etc who have kids to be able to not have to decide whos going if we have it on same night. That and we’re heading to Connemara March 5th Sunday so at least I have a chance of hangover going by then. Two of us dying would not be the greatest plan.

Hopefully will see some of you guys that havent seen in ages in 8 weeks since we arrive March 3rd to Eire.

Now to turn my vaccum cleaner into a lipsuction machine....
